If you have a youngster who likes to color, but is constantly leaving drawings everywhere, you might really appreciate the new Dry Erase Crayons from Crayola. Although you won't be able to save the brilliant art created in this medium, you can provide the artistic youngster with hours of drawing fun.
A dry erase board is ideal for using these, and Crayola has a set of dry erase crayons and dry erase board, for a great price. You can also find dry erase wall decals, which can allow you to make a convenient practice board in virtually any location in the house, perfect for working math problems, or practicing spelling words.
The crayon box includes a sharpener, and an erasing mitt. Stubborn smudges come off easily, with a little water. Sounds too good to be true, but I tried it out, and was very pleased! These are topping my back to school list, for at home practice, but you may want to treat a favorite teacher to a set, too!

Lego Calculators
If your kids love legos, then a lego calculator is a fun gift consideration. While many parents consider calculators to be disallowed in the school setting, the reality is that most math curricula include appropriate calculator skills. After all, what good is a tech tool that an individual doesn't know how to use correctly? And a calculator doesn't guarantee a correct answer, which makes it a helpful tool in teaching number sense.
You can find lego calculators for kids at the link provided at left, in blue, black, or green!

Case-It Binders for Back to School
When you are working on your back to school shopping list, your tweens and teens often need a good three-ring binder/organizer, in order to help keep track of everything from assignments, to pencils, to paperwork.
Case-It is a really great option, in that it is constructed in case format, with a handle for easy carrying, much like a laptop bag is handled.
The zippered enclosure helps prevent the loss of loose papers, something that is all too common of an occurrence with a tween, or disorganized teen. The colors range from simple black and gray, or blues, to brighter orange or purple. However, there are no funky characters to embarras your tween or teen.
As a mom to many youngsters, and a former math teacher at the middle school level, I highly recommend a zippered binder for any tween who struggles with losing papers, and a good 3-ring binder system for getting organized, and for learning to stay organized.
Pencil Cases For Back To School, and Beyond
Arts and Crafts Supplies
Pencil Cases can be used to organize, especially when it comes to your arts and crafts materials at home. Pouch style pencil cases usually zip closed, making them perfect for sorting out stickers, punches, diecut paper pieces, markers, and all sorts of things. Work with binder compatible pencil cases, in order to keep your materials sorted in a 3 ring binder.
Use hard pencil cases for sorting and storing rubber stamps, stamp pads, glues, exacto knifes, and similar supplies.
Keep your wiggly eyes separate from pom poms, separate from foam pieces, and so on.
Loose Change
Use a hard case pencil holder as a loose change container. A little safer than a jar, it can fit neatly into a drawer, or on a shelf. This is a great way of saving loose change, or to keep lunch money handy.
Stationary Box
Use pencil cases as stationary boxes or kits, storing postage, thank you notes, envelopes, and writing implements.
Friend Gifts
Stock pencil cases with gift cards and treats, an easy birthday gift for your child's friends, or a quick send away gift for a niece or nephew.
Coffee and Tea Gifts
Fill a pencil box with coffee or tea packets, and tuck into a basket with coordinating coffee gadgets, and a mug.
There are a wide range of pencil box styles and materials, ranging in price from very inexpensive, to a little more extravagant. The range of decorative elements makes this a great part of customized basket gifts.
